Kim Daul, 1989-2009

South-Korean supermodel Kim Daul was found hanged in her Paris apartment last Thursday.

Here’s my post for Haaretz about her from this morning (in Hebrew), and a few more beautiful pictures of her for you:

Chanel. Coco Chanel. The Woman and the Legend.

coco-chanel

Well, it’s no secret that I have a great passion to Chanel. Actually, I love everything about Chanel, from the woman to its latest mascara. In a perfect world, I’d have all of her clothes, shoes, perfumes, sunglasses, cosmetics and makeup. I would never want to wear anything else but Chanel.

I’m more than willing to sign on that if askcoco-chanel-style-3ed to.

Since this world is anything but perfect, I settle for less. Much less, that is. I follow her. I know all of her collections by heart and adore them all. I sometimes use her perfume (Allure is my favorite) and always use her makeup. That’s practically it.

It was only very recently when I found out that there is more than one movie made about her. A few days ago, I finally had the time to watch Coco Avant Chanel. I was actually looking forward to see this one for a long time, as I was interested to know more and more about this fascinating woman.

I was so disappointed.

It took the entire movie to get to the most important point of it – to her success. And then it ended. As my friend Shachar said today, the movie ended exactly when it was supposed to actually begin.

Too bad.

A very special dinner made by Eran Elhalal

DSCF0245

As we were visiting a friend who lives in NYC a couple of weeks ago, we were oh so lucky to be invited to dinner at his place. Why lucky? Well, the guy is a pro. Mega league. A star. You name it. Eran Elhalal is a young chef with over 10 years of experience in cooking for the hottest restaurants in Manhattan, and now is about to finally open his own restaurant in NYC. This is why we were so lucky – we were invited to his place for a private gourmet meal.

The first picture above gives you a small hint on how pro this guy is. He actually posts a menu on his fridge and cooks accordingly. The courses are not ready as you sit down, they are being cooked as you eat or rest between the courses, always accompanied with great wine, and, above all, with Eran’s smiley and pure nice personality which makes your time spent with him even more delightful.

Eran can talk about food for many many hours. His enthusiasm with whatever concerns food is really inspiring, and only by hearing him speak one can know for sure that he’s already dying to taste his food. He’s a lovely conversation maker (no crappy small talks, I swear) and a wonderful cook.

Here you can see the wonderful Gewurtzmeiner being chilled -

And here’s Eran cooking, so focused and yet very into the conversation -

This is our first course being served. Isn’t it just beautiful? I can personally guarantee – it was as delicious as it looks :-)

Eran also makes the most perfect deserts. Check out this one – it’s baked peaches based on oatmeal with honey and ice cream on top. It was perfect, and completely ruined the “we’re not having deserts” attitude my boyfriend and I were trying to hold on to :-)

So, if you get anywhere near NYC and want to have a lovely dinner for your friends, or even a romantic dinner for two, you should really contact Eran, for being the nicest and for making the best food in the world. You can easily find him on Facebook or check out his blog   http://www.eranelhalal.com.

Eran, we enjoyed hanging out with you and your dinner very much, thank you very much :-)

Back to school prep

Yeah, it’s the middle of August already, and summer vacation’s about to end. Kinda sad, bu hey, there’s a bright side for anything: It means that the seasons are just about to change, and that the new Fall and Winter collections are already in stores. If you’re going back to school soon enough, it’s probably time to update your school wardrobe. Check out my new article at http://www.bamoda.co.il/fashion/Articles.aspx?id=706 (in Hebrew) and find out exactly what you need just for that :-)

A Ballet for Karl Lagerfeld

I just couldn’t stop watching this one again and again.

What a perfect combination of two of my great loves – classic ballet and Chanel. I have spent 13 years of my life dancing classic ballet and have always admired Chanel. This creation actually brought tears to my eyes! I wouldn’t have found out about it unless I had the Chanel application for iPhone, which is so beautifully designed and so user friendly.

I wish I could embed it to here, but the Chanel website is all about Flash. Oh well, all there’s left for me to do is HIGHLY recommend to you all to enter this link, sit back in your armchairs, volume up, and watch this very moving piece:

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do :-)
