Bottega Veneta

Fashion heartaches

Every year, I have two days when I die to be in Milan for a couple of hours: fall/winter fashion week and spring/summer fashion week. I only want to see Bottega Veneta show live. That’s all. Today is one of those days.

The Bottega Veneta ss12 fashion show.
I’m still not there :-(

Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2011 – once in a life time

Well, maybe more than once, but it is definitely the first time something like this has ever happened to me. I was going through Style.com’s iPad app yesterday, checking out the latest shows at Milan fashion week. I entered Jil Sander’s show right after losing heartbeats by watching Bottega Veneta and Alberta Ferreti, which were both so beautiful. And then it happened:

For the first time in my life, I saw a collection that is spotless. I would wear each and every item of it, thinking it’s the most beautiful one i could ever wear. The black pieces are all spot on – the capes, the sweaters, the coats, and omg the pants – are all perfect. After a brilliant summer collection, you’d think it will be hard to top it, and then came this one, which is totally mind blowing. The gray oversized maxi wool dress literally has my name on it!

I highly recommend checking out the collection here at style.com. A few highlights are up on Fashiongonerogue, here are some of my favorite:

Topshop Spring-summer 2011 lookbook – Most of what I wore in the past year came from Topshop, for sure. I have to admit it that I’m not a big fan of the combinations offered in this lookbook, but I’m sure I’m going to love most of the pieces, separately, and that I will be able to play with them according to my own style. Here it is, take a look:

The Cut – This Week in Street Style – I’m a sucker for these slideshows, really. I enjoy each and every one of these slideshows. It gives me so much inspiration for what to wear and how’s I’d like to dress up. Seriously, the more of these – the merrier! Mulberry Spring 2011 Campaign Preview – I probably see tens of campaigns every month as a big part of my job as a fashion journalist. After a while, I realized that it takes much to impress me or to even stop scrolling down to the next item and take a good look. This one just made me do it. It’s beautiful: http://fashiongonerogue.com/mulberry-spring-2011-campaign-preview-lindsey-wixson-tim-walker/

Fashionologie.com: Candy Magazine Does Drag Versions of Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington and Tavi Gevinson – These shots are really amazing. Great job :-D http://www.fashionologie.com/Candy-Magazine-Does-Drag-Versions-Anna-Wintour-Grace-Coddington-Tavi-Gevinson-13020665

Racked.com: Tomas Maier’s Eloquent Thoughts on the concept of “it” bags – He’s right, of course. He’s always right in my opinion, because he’s the brilliant man behind Bottega Veneta, so he must be right :-) http://racked.com/archives/2010/12/30/tomas-maiers-eloquent-thoughts.php

BOTTEGA VENETA – ART OF COLLABORATION

If you ever wondered what Bottega Veneta literally means, so here it is – it means Venetian atelier. Pretty, ha?

Well, my love to everything about Bottega Veneta is well-known here :-) Check out their Fall/Winter 2010-11 ad campaign:

Mulberry | Bottega Veneta Fall/Winter 2010/2011 Campaigns

By now, I can say it loud and clear – I have no passion for British or Italian designers. It’s weird, I know, but that’s just the way it is – I have never felt out of air watching Cavalli, Gucci, Burberry or even Fendi. Nothing.

It’s just that -

Bottega Veneta always takes my breath away. It’s the only Italian brand I’m sure I’d love to wear their everything. Weather I see their adds on magazines or walk by their store on 5th avenue – I always feel the same – breathless -

Same goes with Mulberry, but I have to admit it – it’s a new thing. I used to be as indifferent about them as I am towards Dolce & Gabbana. I just saw their Fall campaign and understood – they are breathtaking too -

P.S.

The last photo was taken by my friend Shelly Gross, who is a very talented fashion blogger (in Hebrew) and a fashion journalist. This picture appeared in her blog, and was taken at a fashion show which was held two weeks ago in Tel-Aviv. The legs belong to me and to another friend who is a fashion journalist, Aviv Bertele. I think it’s a very funny picture :-D

Sunglasses summer 2010

I was recently invited to a sunglasses presentation, where all the major brands were presented to journalists. It was a very pleasant presentation, yet early in the morning, produced by Hila Rahav (huge PR agency in Israel, mega pros).

I picked a few models to show here, of those that I liked best. So here’s a peak at what’s about to be hot in sunglasses this summer:

Starting with Balenciaga:

And to Valentino -

Dior -

And to my favorite brand – Bottega Veneta:

I hope you liked it :-)

Even though I don’t wear black anymore: Bottega Veneta

It’s true, it’s been months since I wore my signature total look, which was always head-to-toe in black. It’s very hard not to wear it anymore, but I think I’m holding up very nicely so far :-)

botttega Veneta has always been one of my favorites, I think it’s in my top 3 for a long time now. Their yesterday fashion show was one of a kind, as usual, with lots of black total looks, black leather and very little color. The designs, as always, are divine and perfect. Never disappointing. I should also upload some of their new summer sunglasses which are also gorgeous. I will, soon.

I hope you liked it!

Hilla Ohayon.
