Repetto RTW

Confession: I wore ballerina flats for years and years. I didn’t mind the brand, just the shape, quality and color of course. A few years back I was introduced to Repetto, which makes the most perfect ballerina flats, and easily got addicted to them. I still wear them, even my oldest pairs, and I think that time only makes them look better and better, so I fall in love with them even more. When I wear them, it’s quite a personal experience I have with myself – they remind me so much of my years as a ballet dancer, and make me feel very much like myself. It’s true love, really.

I recently heard that Repetto are starting a ready-to-wear line. These kind of news easily interpret themselves in my head to “I want and I don’t even need to see it first.”

Then I went online to see some images and yes, what a surprise, I still want it all.

This super French chic video tells it all. This collections is the sweetest but not too sticky, stylish but not too trendy, and most comfortable and simple collection out there at the moment. You can see more looks here at Repetto website.

Sofia Coppola’s Miss Dior Cherie video – the extended version

Extending the dreamy vibe this weekend has given me, with a truly stormy weather outside and a very tranquil atmosphere inside, here is a great way to do it – films director Sofia Coppola’s extended video for the new Miss Dior Cherie campaign, starring Natalie Portman:

And, if I may add, I think Natalie Portman is gorgeous, yet I would love to see Sofia herself starring her own films, please.

I like the thought about

A new CR Fashion Book by Carine Roitfeld coming out in February.

More details here.

And – everything new and exciting to happen in 2013, I like the thought about those too. Happy new year!

Saskia de Brauw for Saint Laurent

A lot has been said about Hedi Slimane’s move to YSL and the rapid changes to follow that move. I have to admit that I was very sceptic too at first, but then again I’ve been following Hedi’s work for quite a while now, especially his style and unique take on photography, and have always admired his work. Saint Laurent (it’s going to take a while till I get used to the new name, as close as it might sound to YSL) recently launched their SS13 menswear campaign, lensed by Slimane himself, who obviously also designed the collection. For his first shoot he chose a female model, Saskia de Braw, and the results are amazing. You can always trust Slimane to dare, be provocative, interesting, and always so elegant while at it. Here are the photos taken for the campaign:

Chloe Sevigny for Miu Miu’s Fall 2012 Campaign by Mert & Marcus

Chloe Sevigny for Miu Miu’s Fall 2012 Campaign by Mert & Marcus

Miu Miu Fall 2012 campaign video featuring Chloe Sevigny -

And just after that, comes this beautiful movie for Miu Miu, shot by Iranian-American screenwriter and director, Massy Tadjedin, and bringing back art to the front row of branded fashion videos –

I recommend watching both, taking the time and enjoy. The second one, obviously, is a favorite.

Carolina Herrera Fall 2012 Campaign

I saw Carolina Herrera Fall-Winter 2012-13 fashion show on my last visit to New York during fashion week, and it was an unforgettable experience for me. It was simply dreamy – the gowns, the dresses, the volumes, the colors and the feminine silhuettes were stunning. It was a collection to remember – and I was so glad to recall my memories of it when I saw the Fall 2012 campaign, and even happier to watch the making-of video of the fall campaign shoot. Lensed by Patrick Demarchelier, of course. He is the perfect photographer for this style for sure. The result is beautiful – I wouldn’t mind walking up on 5th Avenue’s wet streets dressed in Carolina Herrera’s dresses either:

Agyness Deyn for Rebecca Minkoff

After attending Rebecca Minkoff’s fashion shows this season and last season, I just new for sure that she was heading towards the right direction – up. Her little handbags brand has grown so much and so fast, and it always had a true sense of fashion in it, even when it wasn’t so obvious.

A short video taken with model Agyness Deyn walking on the beach  proofs it – Rebecca Minkoff got it. It’s not about showing as many of your designs as you can in 20 seconds. It’s about your story, it’s about who you are and it’s about your inspirations as a designer and as a brand, and that’s all.
