Chanel iconic jacket – an explanation

The iconic Chanel jacket. Seriously, there is an explanation for its eternal success. First out in 1954 and continued to be one of the world’s most wanted fashion pieces in every woman’s wardrobe, this video out by Chanel explains it: it’s all about the freedom of movement. Coco Chanel herself is being interviewed on this video, explaining that her biggest challenge is to design clothes for women, which would allow them to move in them, freely. Here:

and here she is. Wearing one herself. Needless to say, it’s the only one I want:

CR Fashion Book 2nd issue – behind the scenes

I haven’t got the chance to put my hands on the second issue of CR Fashion Book yet, but I’ve been following closely enough on the magazine’s website (a recommendation! It’s fantastic) and was surprised to see this cute video up on the YouTube Channel, showing the behind the scenes of a photoshoot taken for this issue. It’s very cheerful, colourful and happy, not very Carin Roitfeld, even though she is in it.

If you like Mondays and spring, you might enjoy this one :-P

Tilda Swinton for Chanel

One of the things that make make me love fashion so much is, that justice can be done in this industry sometimes, and it never seizes to surprise me.
Justice is when Tilda Swinton is tapped as the new face of Chanel. Yes.

February’s inspiration folder

February has been a very weird month for me. I was down with a bad Pneumonia for the most of it (but all better now, thanks) and before I had the chance to get back on my feet I find that it’s almost over. Being sick is bad, by all means, but I have to admit that I finally had the time to watch all the shows of fashion weeks on my iPad in bed, and also to read a lot and watch TV! Which I haven’t done in such a long time. And now it’s back to work, full on. I hope you enjoy the few photos I loved and saved for this post:

Tommy Ton street style photos – London fashion week: Thoughts

After the shows and the collections, what I mostly love exploring is Tommy Ton‘s photos for style.com. He has this wonderful talent of capturing the spirit and character of each fashion capital and it is always so beautifully served.
So – London – have you ever considered showing up to a fashion show holding a Dante book in your hand? Or: How many Celine coats are there and is everyone wearing the same one all the time?
Check out the London street style around fashion week’s shows here at Tommy Ton for style.com.

What do you think? Do you like the London scene?
I, obviously, not so much. Thank goodness for Emmanuelle Alt and her chic assistants for saving the week :)

Marc Jacobs Magic Show Fall 2013 RTW

It is very easy to compare my side of the world (Tel-Aviv, Israel) to the side where fashion is done right, or anywhere considered a fashion capital out there.

I know that there is so much money involved and invested in every little detail, but when I saw a very short video taken at the recent Marc Jacobs show in New york, the only thought that came through my mind was – you can’t buy the feeling of magic created on the runway. It has so many different aspects that create it – the expectations, the character of the brand, its glory and fame, and of course – the beautiful clothes modeled by beautiful models.

Here are some of my favorite looks from that show, following with a 1.5 minutes video that explains the magic quite well:

(photos are taken from style.com)

It was a beautiful celebration of some of the iconic silhuettes and textures from the 40s, with so many metallic elements. And on top of it all, I couldn’t take my eyes off of the shoes. They are all stunning, lots of Mary-Janes and very classic heels. I loved it.

Here is the video I saw, taken by Garance Dore:

I hope you felt the magic ;)

Cara Delevingne again

Are you absolutely sure you haven’t had enough of Cara Delevingne? If yes, click on Play for her Valentine’s Day video for Love Magazine. And yes, you are not imagining it. She is everywhere, all the time, and by the time you go to sleep after a fuul day of seeing her everywhere, she’s already on her way to get to your tomorrow’s destination.

That’s way too many Chanel posts

And this blog is not about Chanel, Karl or anything like that, BUT

I’ve really been obsessing with the latest Chanel Couture ss13 fashion show. I have. I can’t stop messing with it. I wanted to know everything about it: the hair, the most amazing makeup, the models, the music, and of course the dresses. I won’t bore you with my way too thorough research (it’s not really boring. I’m saving it for my next column for the newspaper, that’s all) and I just want to show you the Enchanted Interlude video Chanel made for this show. Just because it shows the magic so clearly that you can’t avoid it:

I hope you felt and loved the magic just as much as I did!

Karl’s “Mysterious new project”

So Karl Lagerfeld is working on a new “Mysterious and unusual” project, so he says. I feel like he is always up to something and it’s always fascinating. Here is a video where he introduces his new secret, without saying anything too revealing, of course. It looks like it has something to do with furniture. Hmmm. Here’s the Karl way of saying a lot and not saying much at the same time:

I’m a sucker for DANSK Magazine covers

And this one is perfect in my opinion. It’s a teaser published by Dansk to their next issue cover. The thing with Dansk covers is that you can’t take a 1 second look at them. They are always so interesting and beautiful that I always stare at them for much longer and then again and again.
