Tel Aviv Fashion Week, a set on Flickr.

If you plan to go through my way too many photos here, taken last week during Tel Aviv fashion week, I should say a few words about it before you click on this link. For what it’s worth, I made a mistake. I should have taken a lot more photos of my friends and colleagues at the press room rather than blurry runway shots. And it’s not the quality of my photos that bothers me (that too, but it’s not my point) but the story of the Tel Aviv fashion scene that you don’t get to see here, at all. There are over a 100 photos here, taken during each show, and I had to attend them all. Most of them were taken for Haaretz newspaper’s website, to which I reported on an hourly basis during this event.

This is the time to tell you that I don’t think that what you are about to see here is about Tel-Avivian fashion or at least does not present the way I or my friends dress or wish to dress, if at all. I will also tell you that I truly loved 3 shows this week. One of them even brought tears to my eyes, and another one made me purchase a dress straight off the runway. But that is it. The gap between the amazing production and venue, done by Motty Reif, and the collections presented, was much too big to overlook. Keyword for next time: editing, editing, editing. I should have taken more photos of my friends, simply because they dress up ten times better than what we saw on the runways. As simple as that.

And last words: I had so much fun. It’s hard work, long hours and a lot of stress, and still, so much fun!

xx,

Hilla Ohayon.

December, really?

It’s funny how I’ve been waiting for this month to start for quite a while now and now that it has, I’m pretty shocked that this year is coming to its end.
Big changes are coming my way and it’s way too soon to write about them here, but I can only say that I can’t wait for 2013 to finally start. I couldn’t be more ready for it.
This week has been quite eventful with collections previews, meetings, dinners with friends and, yeah, work. I started feeling my traveling need biting me a little bit too. Although I miss my friends in NY very much, and the city of course, I really want to go to Paris. I feel like I haven’t been there for too long, since March I think? I really miss it.
Here is the passing week in photos. You can find more in my Instagram at @HillaO.

I grabbed a couple of Noritamy rings and pilled them up on one finger. Here is the gorgeous result, I can’t have enough of those. You can check their amazing designs here at Nortiamy website:

This one was taken at one of my favorite places to eat in Tel Aviv, Hotel Montifiore. I think I eat there about 3-4 times a week now, I love it! These are a couple of deserts we shared, it was amazing!

And yeah I was so happy when Grace Coddington’s new memoir came in with a messenger at my place, I’ve been so curious to read it since I read about it. It’s here and it’s much thicker than I thought it would be:

What can I say, elevators can be boring. My accountant’s office is on the 34th floor, I had to goof around while I was on my way up:

I went to Maya Negri’s collection preview this week at the new boutique hotel in TLV, Brown Hotel. The lobby is beautiful, I loved the huge bookshelf, it’s amazing. Here’s me with Maya and her winter collection’s face-of.

The famous bookshelf –

One of the best things that happened to me was this – lunch with a very good friend, Shelly Gross. I’ve said it here before but I am never too lazy to say it again – besides countless great virtues Shelly has, she also writes the best fashion blog (written in Hebrew) in Israel. Hands down. It’s my favorite. If you read Hebrew, check it out here. Our time together is priceless and means so much to me. She is the best!

She took this photo of me at the restaurant. I regramed from her Instagram straight into mine, I loved it :)

Till next time,

Brunch at Delicatessen

This one is all about food :-) I’ve been waiting to check out the new place in town, Delicatessen, for more than two weeks now. When my friends invited me to join them fro brunch this weekend, I was really excited to go there, finally. The food was really nice, and we were really lucky with the weather too – it started with a really cold, grey and rainy morning, but the sun came out as soon as we were sitted at our table. It was such a nice brunch!

This is one of the corners of the deli downstairs. Vegetables and fruits look so good there, don’t they? I almost bought everything!

This is the pastry corner. Dangerous! Everything looks so delicious.

This is the flowers corner right by the entrance. It’s beautiful and so welcoming. I should start buying flowers again for my apartment, it’s such a joy to have them around.

This is definitely my favorite corner of the deli. So many little drawers full of little jars of jams and pastes.

We went for the basic breakfast and the double breakfast, just to make sure we don’t miss anything. It was really nice. I have to admit – I had better ones before. It was quite simple, and pastries can only be better. Scrambled eggs were really simple, there were very little chopped vegetables as a salad and the cheese wasn’t special. Next time, and there will be a next time, I should try one of the special dishes. There will be a second time as I really liked the place, the service was impecable and it has a great vibe.

Ok gotta run now,

xoxo,

Hilla Ohayon.

A Stylist and A designer met and a new collaboration is born!

My friend Shachar Rabanne, a well-known stylist here in Tel Aviv, recently told me that he’s working on a new line, collaborating with fashion designer Hagit Fink. He told me this as we were walking into Yossi Katzav’s collection presentation on a very sunny Sunday morning, and he told me that he actually has the first bag they designed together in his bag now. I don’t really need to hear more than these hot keywords: collaboration, handbags. That is really all it takes to get my curiosity on fire. When I asked to see the bag, I just knew it – I love it!

I asked Shachar to be the first to show it online, and got it, gladly. Here it is:

Shachar Rabanne and Hagit Fink's first bag

I like this style a lot. It’s made of real leather, it’s big enough, it’s vintage inspired and it’s just beautiful :) This is definitely a collaboration I’ll be following closely. Good luck Shachar and Hagit!
