Tilda Swinton for Chanel

One of the things that make make me love fashion so much is, that justice can be done in this industry sometimes, and it never seizes to surprise me.
Justice is when Tilda Swinton is tapped as the new face of Chanel. Yes.

February’s inspiration folder

February has been a very weird month for me. I was down with a bad Pneumonia for the most of it (but all better now, thanks) and before I had the chance to get back on my feet I find that it’s almost over. Being sick is bad, by all means, but I have to admit that I finally had the time to watch all the shows of fashion weeks on my iPad in bed, and also to read a lot and watch TV! Which I haven’t done in such a long time. And now it’s back to work, full on. I hope you enjoy the few photos I loved and saved for this post:

Tommy Ton street style photos – London fashion week: Thoughts

After the shows and the collections, what I mostly love exploring is Tommy Ton‘s photos for style.com. He has this wonderful talent of capturing the spirit and character of each fashion capital and it is always so beautifully served.
So – London – have you ever considered showing up to a fashion show holding a Dante book in your hand? Or: How many Celine coats are there and is everyone wearing the same one all the time?
Check out the London street style around fashion week’s shows here at Tommy Ton for style.com.

What do you think? Do you like the London scene?
I, obviously, not so much. Thank goodness for Emmanuelle Alt and her chic assistants for saving the week :)

Marc Jacobs Magic Show Fall 2013 RTW

It is very easy to compare my side of the world (Tel-Aviv, Israel) to the side where fashion is done right, or anywhere considered a fashion capital out there.

I know that there is so much money involved and invested in every little detail, but when I saw a very short video taken at the recent Marc Jacobs show in New york, the only thought that came through my mind was – you can’t buy the feeling of magic created on the runway. It has so many different aspects that create it – the expectations, the character of the brand, its glory and fame, and of course – the beautiful clothes modeled by beautiful models.

Here are some of my favorite looks from that show, following with a 1.5 minutes video that explains the magic quite well:

(photos are taken from style.com)

It was a beautiful celebration of some of the iconic silhuettes and textures from the 40s, with so many metallic elements. And on top of it all, I couldn’t take my eyes off of the shoes. They are all stunning, lots of Mary-Janes and very classic heels. I loved it.

Here is the video I saw, taken by Garance Dore:

I hope you felt the magic ;)

That’s way too many Chanel posts

And this blog is not about Chanel, Karl or anything like that, BUT

I’ve really been obsessing with the latest Chanel Couture ss13 fashion show. I have. I can’t stop messing with it. I wanted to know everything about it: the hair, the most amazing makeup, the models, the music, and of course the dresses. I won’t bore you with my way too thorough research (it’s not really boring. I’m saving it for my next column for the newspaper, that’s all) and I just want to show you the Enchanted Interlude video Chanel made for this show. Just because it shows the magic so clearly that you can’t avoid it:

I hope you felt and loved the magic just as much as I did!

Karl’s “Mysterious new project”

So Karl Lagerfeld is working on a new “Mysterious and unusual” project, so he says. I feel like he is always up to something and it’s always fascinating. Here is a video where he introduces his new secret, without saying anything too revealing, of course. It looks like it has something to do with furniture. Hmmm. Here’s the Karl way of saying a lot and not saying much at the same time:

The real people on Scott Schuman’s photos

I feel like it’s one thing to admire The Sartorialist photos (we all do) and it’s a whole different thing to know the people he is photographing again and again at different times, events and venues. This video is not only well-edited and beautifully done, it is also very interesting and give a glimpse to these real people, not necessarily in high positions in the fashion industry, yet they are fascinating because of who they are and thanks to their simplicity.

The Sartorialist – Personal Portraits from ACTA on Vimeo.

Told you, it’s inspiring and beautiful.

p.s. If you still don’t own The Sartorialist books, I highly recommend them both. I always go back to them for inspiration. You can view and purchase them here through Amazon:

The new Chanel And The Diamond video is fantastic

I had no idea that Gabrielle Chanel designed her only diamonds collection in 1932 and had no clue about her approach to diamonds. This just-launched video by Chanel will glue you to your screen, I promise you, even if you don’t really like diamonds (I don’t and still…):

Beauty Call: I almost found my one

I’ve been looking for the perfect eye cream/gel for as long as I can imagine my upcoming wrinkles. Meaning – for years and years now. My problem wasn’t really about the wrinkles, it’s my morning puffiness that drives me crazy. It’s on and loud even if I wake up at 7am, shower, put my creams on and wear makeup – at least until 10am. So embarrassing. People always think that I’m tired or just woke up. It’s not true! I just get too puffy that’s all.
So I literally tried every cream out there. None of them worked. And then I got a bit older, and the skin around my eyes asked for different things. Hey, it wants moisture now, and a lot of it. So that’s how my quest for de-puffing became second or third in my priorities. I’m more scared of wrinkles than swollen eyelids for sure.
Moisturising eye creams are mostly good. Use anything really, as long as it’s meant to go for your eyes only and it has a nice feeling, they all do the trick.
And then – miracle! I recently got La Prairie Advanced Marine Biology Eye Gel 0.5 oz / 15 ml and was so happy to discover that it actually works! 10 minutes after applying I looked wide awake and the big bags were gone. So if you have the same problem, I highly recommend it.
The only minus of this gel is that like most other gels, it is not moisturising enough. I have to use another cream on top of it to get it done. It’s a bit annoying because it takes longer to absorb and you can’t really use makeup straight after, but I think it’s worth the outcome for sure.
You can read another review about this product here and I also recommend getting a sample first to see if you actually like it – La Prairie’s samples are pretty huge and can last you at least a couple of weeks.

You can also purchase it here at Amazon:

Conclusion: I’d gladly give it a 10 but I can’t. It’s the lack of moisture in it that makes it a 8.5 in my opinion.

How To: Chanel Couture Gowns. Yeah, how to.

Ever wondered or imagined how much work is involved in the making of one single couture dress?

Ever asked yourself why can’t anyone call their designs “couture” even if they worked really hard on it and it’s really beautiful?

Here is why. This is the real thing, people. Enjoy this inspiring little video by Chanel Couture:

That’s perfection. So inspiring!
